DESCRIPTION:ASFPM’s 44th annual national conference:\n“Resiliency Where The West Begins” \nWith our responsibility to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and with the health and safety of our members and attendees in mind\, we have made the decision to cancel our in-person conference and make the shift to a virtual conference. Read more here \n  \nThe ASFPM annual conference is recognized as the most important floodplain conference in the United States year after year. With more than 120 speakers and 1\,200 participants\, they are the national conferences all community\, state and federal floodplain managers plan to attend. And because of that\, many of the most important consulting firms and product vendors associated with floodplain management attend. \n  \nIn recent years\, the attendance has had about an equal number of private\, local\, state and federal participants from all over the U.S. and several foreign countries. \n  \nASFPM also sponsors and co-sponsors major regional and topical conferences. We ask that everyone use the mute button when not speaking.  It is also important that you not put your phone on hold.  Any speakers who exceed the time limits or interfere with the meeting may be muted by the Chair.  You are encouraged to submit written comments of any length before the meeting. \nQuestions and Staff Reports. If you have any questions concerning an item on the agenda or would like to receive a staff report related to the item\, please contact the staff member whose name and direct phone number are indicated in parenthesis at the end of the agenda item. \nCampaign Contributions. State law requires Commissioners to disqualify themselves from voting on any matter if they have received a campaign contribution from an interested party. If you intend to speak on any hearing item\, please indicate via email directed to public comment if you have made campaign contributions in excess of $250 to any Commissioner within the last year\, and if so\, to which Commissioner(s) you have contributed. If you are unable to do this in advance of the meeting\, please indicate that this information is being provided when you are called upon to make your comment.  There is no need to email us or raise this in your public comment if you have not made contributions in excess of the $250 sum to any Commissioner\, but it must be raised if you have made a contribution in excess of this sum.  Other legal requirements govern contributions by applicants and other interested parties and establish criteria for Commissioner conflicts of interest. We will attempt to make the meeting accessible via Zoom accessibility capabilities.  During the current State of Emergency in California\, before the meeting public comment in writing is encouraged via email. During the meeting participation will occur by phone. \nBagley-Keene Open Meeting Act. As a state agency\, the Commission is governed by the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act which requires the Commission to: (1) publish an agenda at least ten days in advance of any meeting; (2) describe specifically in that agenda the items to be transacted or discussed; and (3) refuse to add an item subsequent to the published agenda. In addition to these general requirements\, the Bagley-Keene Act includes other specific provisions about how meetings are to be announced and conducted.
