DESCRIPTION:UPDATE:  Due to the State-Wide Shelter-In-Place Order\, Tunitas Beach Clean-Ups will be cancelled until further notice. Hope to see you all out there !! \nDescription\nTunitas Creek Beach is a hidden gem to the South of Half Moon Bay that due to it’s secluded and challenging location\, has historically been pretty badly polluted by visitors. Being such a long stretch of beach with a steep cliff at one end and long hike along and creek crossing at the other it makes collecting and removing trash and debris even more difficult. We need all hands on deck for our monthly clean-ups to keep this beach beautiful and its sea life safe and healthy. This is a great opportunity for groups of friends\, families\, co-workers\, school groups\, athletes\, clubs to come together\, have fun and really make a difference! \nWhat to bring: \nBYOB (bring your own bucket and gloves). . . we do have buckets and gloves in limited supply\, but they go quickly! \nWater is provided\, but we do ask you bring a reusable bottle to fill-up. \nWe also have zero-waste snacks\, Bananas / Tangerines / Pistacios\, hand sanitizer and sunscreen at all events. \nChange of shoes/socks is highly recommended as certain times of year the creek and lagoon on the beach may need to be crossed. \nOther considerations: \nMost clean-ups run from 9-11* on the 4th Sunday* of the monthand then we sort and stage the trash for pick-up at the Hwy Entrance to the South until 11:30am. \n*Note: our April and September events will fall on a Saturday and will coincide with Pacific Beach Coalition’s Earth Day of Action / EcoFest and SMC’s CA Coastal Clean-Up Day \nThere are no age restrictions and is a GREAT event for families. \nParking and clean-up check in will be at the Highway 1 turn-out (south of Tunitas Creek Rd) on the West side of the HWY – there will be signs posted. \nIMPORTANT NOTE: There are currently NO facilities/bathrooms at Tunitas. The nearest bathrooms are in HMB proper (9mi North) or San Gregorio State Beach (6mi South) \n

DESCRIPTION:Under the now $1.2 billion plan\, efforts are aimed at restoring flows to a 60-mile\, mostly dry stretch of the San Joaquin River to revive chinook salmon runs while reducing or avoiding adverse water supply impacts to farmers. \n  \nThis 2-day\, 1-night tour travels along the river from Friant Dam near Fresno to the confluence of the Merced River. DESCRIPTION:Understanding the fundamental principles of groundwater and watersheds and how we monitor\, assess\, and sustainably manage these resources with climate change and variability is critical and integral to Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) and other water-related programs. Whether at the local\, state\, or federal level\, these programs are designed for sustainable development\, management\, and protection of water resources in California among competing users. \n  \nAs Groundwater Sustainability Agencies in California develop and implement their GSPs\, professionals\, decision makers\, executives\, agency employees\, and stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and in a wide variety of private\, non-profit\, and government responsibilities at local\, state\, and federal levels\, become directly or indirectly involved in the sustainable management and assessment of groundwater and surface water to meet the requirements of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Yet\, many participants find themselves lacking the multidisciplinary background and expertise to meaningfully participate in the technical and regulatory efforts related to water resources management. The amount of technical information available often seems overwhelming. \n  \nThis shortcourse will review the fundamental principles of groundwater and watershed hydrology\, water budgets\, water quality\, and water law and regulation in an intuitive\, highly accessible fashion. Through real world examples\, participants will learn about the most common tools for measuring\, monitoring\, and assessing groundwater and surface water resources. \n  \nThe course will then review the key elements of a GSP. Case studies are used so participants learn about \n• Development of conceptual models\, water budgets\, and GSP sustainability criteria;\n• Designing minimum thresholds and operating targets (measureable objectives) for GSPs and how to link those to monitoring networks;\n• Methods for addressing climate variability and climate change;\n• Recharge as a tool to enhance groundwater supplies;\n• GSA governance; and\n• Available online planning resources. \n  \nThe course is specifically geared towards an audience that is or will be involved in the management\, assessment\, and protection of groundwater and surface water resources under SGMA\, but also engages with\, e.g.\, source water assessments\, urban water management plans\, and integrated regional water management plans. DESCRIPTION:Coastal Cleanup Day is an annual waterway and land cleanup held on the third Saturday of every September. It’s California’s largest volunteer event and brings community awareness to cleaning up our streets and protecting our marine environment. \n  \nSan Mateo County Environmental Health Services coordinates the event in partnership with the California Coastal Commission\, the Ocean Conservancy\, and many Statewide and local partners (view here). \n  \n2019 Coastal Cleanup Day Results\n\n5\,245 volunteers participated in the event.\n35\,111 lbs of trash and recyclables were picked up.\n106 miles of San Mateo County was canvased by volunteers looking for litter.\nFor more information on Statewide results\, click here.\n\nThank you to everyone who came out and participated in Coastal Cleanup Day 2019 to help protect our bay and ocean from litter pollution. Hope to see you all out there !! \nDescription\nTunitas Creek Beach is a hidden gem to the South of Half Moon Bay that due to it’s secluded and challenging location\, has historically been pretty badly polluted by visitors. Being such a long stretch of beach with a steep cliff at one end and long hike along and creek crossing at the other it makes collecting and removing trash and debris even more difficult. We need all hands on deck for our monthly clean-ups to keep this beach beautiful and its sea life safe and healthy. This is a great opportunity for groups of friends\, families\, co-workers\, school groups\, athletes\, clubs to come together\, have fun and really make a difference! \nWhat to bring: \nBYOB (bring your own bucket and gloves). . . we do have buckets and gloves in limited supply\, but they go quickly! \nWater is provided\, but we do ask you bring a reusable bottle to fill-up. \nWe also have zero-waste snacks\, Bananas / Tangerines / Pistacios\, hand sanitizer and sunscreen at all events. \nChange of shoes/socks is highly recommended as certain times of year the creek and lagoon on the beach may need to be crossed. \nOther considerations: \nMost clean-ups run from 9-11* on the 4th Sunday* of the monthand then we sort and stage the trash for pick-up at the Hwy Entrance to the South until 11:30am. \n*Note: our April and September events will fall on a Saturday and will coincide with Pacific Beach Coalition’s Earth Day of Action / EcoFest and SMC’s CA Coastal Clean-Up Day \nThere are no age restrictions and is a GREAT event for families. \nParking and clean-up check in will be at the Highway 1 turn-out (south of Tunitas Creek Rd) on the West side of the HWY – there will be signs posted. \nIMPORTANT NOTE: There are currently NO facilities/bathrooms at Tunitas. The nearest bathrooms are in HMB proper (9mi North) or San Gregorio State Beach (6mi South) \n
