As it weaves across a historic farming region\, participants learn about the status of the river’s restoration and how the challenges of the plan are being worked out. \n  \nContact Nick Gray\, programs manager\, via email or call 916-444-6240 with any questions. \n  \nCost: $615 (Early Bird Ends Sept 23); $645 (General) \n  \nRegister here

SUMMARY:10th International Conference on Scour and Erosion
DESCRIPTION:ICSE-10 will mark the 10th offering of the International Conference on Scour and Erosion. Conceived as a conference to bring researchers and practitioners from Geotechnical and Hydraulic Engineering together to tackle the complex challenges of scour and erosion\, this conference strives to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between these two and other related disciplines. Topics on surface and subsurface erosion of soil and bedrock will be organized into tracks to emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to engineering\, research\, monitoring\, mitigation\, and risk assessment. Short courses will be designed to expand participant’s breadth of knowledge on the interdisciplinary aspects of scour and erosion. \n  \nTop Reasons to Attend \n\nGet updates of the current practice and state-of-the-art knowledge in scour\, erosion and remediation.\nExpand your professional network with government agencies\, industry\, and academia.\nNurture new industry and research collaboration.\nTake advantage of professional development opportunities through short courses\, technical sessions and the technical tour.\nEnjoy the beautiful fall season of Washington\, D.C.\n\nThe Geo-Institute of ASCE \nCreated by ASCE in October 1996\, the Geo-Institute (G-I) combines the talents and perspectives of its members to promote the Geotechnical profession and enhance career development through specialty conferences\, journals and practice-oriented publications\, educational programs\, networking and coalition building\, technical committees and task forces and leadership on emerging issues. The 12\,100 members and 63 organizational members of G-I include scientists\, engineers\, technologists\, and organizations interested in improving the environment\, mitigating natural hazards\, and constructing economically engineered facilities. \n  \nLEARN MORE & JOIN G-I \n

SUMMARY:Tunitas Creek Beach Clean-up
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE:  Due to the State-Wide Shelter-In-Place Order\, Tunitas Beach Clean-Ups will be cancelled until further notice. Sign-ups will stay active on Eventbrite\, but just be mindful that there may be cancellations.  \nYou can find more details and Sign-Up @ Eventbrite.com here \nFeel free to email aloha@TLClocals.org with questions\, information or concerns. Hope to see you all out there !! \nDescription\nTunitas Creek Beach is a hidden gem to the South of Half Moon Bay that due to it’s secluded and challenging location\, has historically been pretty badly polluted by visitors. Being such a long stretch of beach with a steep cliff at one end and long hike along and creek crossing at the other it makes collecting and removing trash and debris even more difficult. We need all hands on deck for our monthly clean-ups to keep this beach beautiful and its sea life safe and healthy. This is a great opportunity for groups of friends\, families\, co-workers\, school groups\, athletes\, clubs to come together\, have fun and really make a difference! \nWhat to bring: \nBYOB (bring your own bucket and gloves). . . we do have buckets and gloves in limited supply\, but they go quickly! \nWater is provided\, but we do ask you bring a reusable bottle to fill-up. \nWe also have zero-waste snacks\, Bananas / Tangerines / Pistacios\, hand sanitizer and sunscreen at all events. \nChange of shoes/socks is highly recommended as certain times of year the creek and lagoon on the beach may need to be crossed. \nOther considerations: \nMost clean-ups run from 9-11* on the 4th Sunday* of the monthand then we sort and stage the trash for pick-up at the Hwy Entrance to the South until 11:30am. \n*Note: our April and September events will fall on a Saturday and will coincide with Pacific Beach Coalition’s Earth Day of Action / EcoFest and SMC’s CA Coastal Clean-Up Day \nThere are no age restrictions and is a GREAT event for families. \nParking and clean-up check in will be at the Highway 1 turn-out (south of Tunitas Creek Rd) on the West side of the HWY – there will be signs posted. \nIMPORTANT NOTE: There are currently NO facilities/bathrooms at Tunitas. The nearest bathrooms are in HMB proper (9mi North) or San Gregorio State Beach (6mi South) \n
